Best Time to Cruise Mexico
Mexico’s extensive coastline means there’s a perfect sailing season for every type of traveler, though timing varies between the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
Peak Season (November – April): The Mexican Riviera shines during winter months, with dry skies, comfortable temperatures between 75–85°F, and spectacular whale watching in the Sea of Cortez from January through March. This is also the ideal season for Baja expedition cruises.
Yucatán Year-Round: Mexico’s Caribbean coast enjoys warm weather throughout the year, with Cozumel and Costa Maya appearing on Western Caribbean itineraries in every season. The driest months are December through April.
Shoulder Season (May – June, October – November): Excellent value on Mexican Riviera sailings with pleasant weather and fewer crowds at popular ports like Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.
Summer Season (July – September): Hurricane season affects the Caribbean coast, though Pacific-side sailings remain popular. Warmer temperatures and occasional afternoon showers, with the best pricing of the year.
Holiday sailings over Christmas, New Year’s, and spring break are exceptionally popular for Mexico cruises departing from California and Texas ports.
